Brow Lift
The effects of age, gravity, exposure to sunlight, and the stresses of life all taking their toll on a person's face. Muscles and other tissues may slowly begin to droop, causing the patient to look tired or sad. Such factors may affect an individual's confidence. A brow lift/forehead lift can help such individuals restore youthful vibrance and energy to the face. The effects of time are virtually undone to restore an individual's face and to remove many of the effects of time and aging.
A forehead lift is often performed to treat conditions associated with aging. If the brows have decended below the bony ridge above the eye, brow lift may be right for you. It may be done in conjunction with eyelift surgery to achieve a more harmonious facial appearance. A forehead lift is also appropriate for treatment of certain inherited traits. Younger adults who have a low brow or who already have deep frown lines due to stress or overactivity of muscles may benefit from the procedure.
It is important to mention here that accurate assessment of the cause in an individual case is paramount to determine the appropriate surgical procedure. It is also important to note that the normal position of the eye brow varies in men and women. It is certainly more arched and narrow in women than in men. There are several techniques of brow lift. Broadly they are divided into two types – open and endoscopic. The open technique involves a large incision at the hair line or beyond it while the endoscopic brow lift is performed via 4-5 smaller incisions. Dr. Gahankari is well experienced in all techniques of brow lift and will choose the procedure that is likely to suit you best after examining you thoroughly. More commonly the brow lift procedure is performed along with the face lift procedure, however it can be done alone or with blepharoplasty (upper/ lower eye lid surgery).
Dr Gahankari will examine you during a detailed consultation and will assess the brows droop as well as the extent they need to be lifted. He will also study the pattern of your hair line, skin laxity as well as forehead contour before discussing the possible options.
The surgery is usually scheduled as a day procedure. Following the surgery, some swelling, bruising and black eyes are common for first couple of days. Other risks with this procedure are blood or fluid collection, asymmetry and infection although they are uncommon in Dr Gahankari’s experience.
A brow lift is a very individualized procedure which not only helps to restore the physical appearance of the patient, but also restores self-confidence and respect to the patient.
