Hair Removal – Broad Band Light (BBL)
You might be familiar with the term IPL or intense pulse light. Although BBL may not sound familiar to you, it is the improved and more broad-spectrum version of the IPL. In fact the name broad band light means exactly what it is. It is also arguably the most effective photo-rejuvenation treatment available at present. BBL is only available from the - state of the art Sciton Laser equipment that we proudly offer to our valued clientele. BBL is a proven technology for achieving permanent reduction in unwanted hair growth. This means good bye to painful and time-consuming methods such as Shaving and waxing which are also temporary. It’s much quicker than electrolysis, and produces similar results to laser therapy. BBL works best for skin types 1 to 4. Skin types 5 and 6 are better suited to Clearscan laser hair removal, as BBL may cause burning and lead to pigment changes in the skin.

It works by emitting an intense pulse light of specific wavelengths that passes through the skin to be absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle, damaging the follicle permanently. The light is delivered by the state of the art BBL hand piece that uses chilled sapphire crystal. The chilled crystal makes the procedure virtually painless. Sciton BBL is also known world wide for its unique twin lamp technology, which produces uniform, consistent and predictable results. We advise that tanned skin – natural or fake can lead to unpredictable absorption of this light and hence is to be avoided at the time of procedure.
Laser is maximally effective against hair follicles in the active stage of development. There is only a proportion of our hair follicles at any given site, that are active. This means that the 2-4 sessions are required at approximately 4-6 week intervals to achieve the best results.
